ECEC has met expectations in Virginia. They scored 47 points higher than the statewide average.

Lancaster County Public Schools is proud to share that Lancaster Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) earned a Meets Expectations rating in Virginia’s 2025–2026 Unified Virginia Quality Birth to Five (VQB5) quality ratings, scoring 47 points above the statewide average.

ECEC earned 641 out of 800 possible points, compared with the statewide average of 594. The annual ratings, released by the Virginia Department of Education, provide families and communities with information about the quality of early childhood education programs across the Commonwealth.

VQB5 measures two key areas of early childhood education: the quality of teacher-child interactions and the use of quality curriculum. ECEC earned 541 points for interactions and 100 points for curriculum. The center’s profile reports that Pre-K classroom interactions met expectations and that the center used the VDOE-approved STREAMin3 curriculum in all classrooms.

A Meets Expectations rating means a program meets Virginia’s established standards for early childhood care and education. ECEC’s results highlight the center’s commitment to providing meaningful learning experiences that support young children’s growth and development.

Quality early learning experiences help children build the skills and confidence they need as they prepare for kindergarten and the years of learning ahead. LCPS appreciates the dedication of ECEC’s educators and staff in supporting our youngest learners and their families.
