6th grade students at Yorktown

Lancaster Elementary School sixth graders have been putting their learning into action through hands-on history experiences and opportunities to serve as role models for younger students.

Students recently traveled to Yorktown to visit the American Revolutionary War Museum, where they explored the history of the American Revolution beyond their classroom lessons.

Closer to home, some sixth graders have also visited the Lancaster Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) as Role Model Readers. During these visits, students read aloud to younger learners, demonstrating fluent reading and serving as positive examples for children who are developing their own reading skills.

From exploring our nation's history to encouraging the next generation of readers, Lancaster's sixth graders are showing that learning extends beyond the classroom and leadership can start at any age.
