A momentous new era for public education in the Northern Neck has officially begun. Members of the Lancaster School Board and the Board of Supervisors stood side-by-side with Superintendent Jessica Davis, Director of Operations Travis Pittman, and County Administrator Don Gill to host the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the brand-new, state-of-the-art Lancaster High School (LHS). This landmark facility is ready to welcome 7th through 12th-grade students for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year, marking a massive milestone for the county's families and educators.
The spectacular three-story building is packed with modern amenities designed to offer students a cutting-edge learning environment tailored for the future. Every learning wing is fully outfitted with brand-new student furniture and high-tech smart TVs to promote interactive learning. Beyond the classrooms, the facility boasts the largest gymnasium in the Northern Neck, a dedicated career center to prepare students for post-graduation pathways, and a beautiful, spacious auditorium that comfortably seats 625 people for school productions and community gatherings.
While the ribbon has been officially cut, the community will have two distinct opportunities to step inside and tour this incredible new space. The public is invited to a preview tour on July 25th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM to see the progress firsthand as staff continue the final move-in process. For those who want to see the finished product, a grand community open house of the completely moved-in building will take place on September 12th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
