Convocation signifies the commencement of a new academic year. It provides an opportunity for faculty and staff to celebrate, share updates, and prepare for the arrival of our students, who will begin classes on August 12th. This year, we were pleased to have our three summer interns present their experiences and the positive impact those experiences had on them.
Kaysean Davis and Ashton Molineaux completed their internships with the Lancaster County Government offices, under the mentorship of Mr. John Bateman, Assistant County Administrator. Similarly, Bailey Lease interned with the Town of Kilmarnock, guided by her mentors, Susan Cockrell, Town Manager, and Cindy Balderson, Town Clerk, who also joined her for the presentation.
The students articulated how their internships provided valuable insights into the workings of local government within our county, as well as the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in their respective fields. All three emphasized the development of essential soft skills, including communication and adaptability in unfamiliar situations.
Ms. Cockrell and Ms. Balderson expressed their appreciation for the positive experience of hosting one intern and conveyed their interest in welcoming two interns in the coming year. They extended their gratitude to the teachers and parents for their support in helping students achieve their fullest potential and for laying the groundwork that enabled the students to succeed in their internships.
