CTE Month: Isaiah Ball

February is Career & Technical Education Month in Virginia and Lancaster High School is  celebrating our senior CTE students.   We have interviewed some our 12th grade students and had them share their experiences with CTE and what advice they would offer to younger students.

Isaiah Ball

Isaiah Ball is a senior at Lancaster High School.  He is currently enrolled in the Electrical Program at the Northern Neck Technical Center.  Isaiah made the decision to go to NNTC with his mother.  They both felt this would be a great way for him to reach his career pathway as an electrician and give him the skills needed for success after graduation.  Isaiah also enjoys the opportunity to work with his hands and is aware of how he can use his skills after high school for a career.

Isaiah would tell younger students it is important to read and follow directions in order to  complete projects correctly and safely. Isaiah can see the connections to what he learned in his classes at LHS and what he needs to do in the electrical program.   He shared the skills in math such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, understanding fractions, and percentages are central.  In addition, being able to read and understand directions, charts, and graphs are also important to completion of projects.

Isaiah is excited for the future and reports he wants to combine his abilities with electricity and real estate.  He hopes to be able to buy, repair, and sell properties as a career.

LHS is proud of Isahiah and his accomplishments in CTE.  We are looking forward to seeing how he will use his skills for a career after high school.
