Good evening LES families,

I want to start off by thanking each and every guardian for their support and commitment during our remote learning days, ensuring that your child either completed their digital requirements, their physical work, or communicated with their teacher throughout the process. This partnership is what makes our school community great, and our staff appreciates the commitment to making it work.

A few reminders about ongoing or upcoming events:

- Due to school closures last week, the 100th day of school is now this Wednesday, February 4th. Feel free to participate with something that represents "100"! This is always a fun way to celebrate an important milestone in our educational year.

- This week is our Scholastic Book Fair. Ms. Tadlock has created a schedule that ensures that all classes have the opportunity to attend the book fair, but it will also be open to families tomorrow, Tuesday, from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. Visitors can enter via the cafeteria doors. For more information about the book fair, check here: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/lancasterelementary

- The Kid's Heart Challenge occurs this month, raising awareness and money for the American Heart Association. Wear red this Friday to support the cause! Please be on the lookout for an email with more information about how to join and participate. Students have the ability to pie Ms. Broske, Ms. Webb, or Mr. Pinn at the end of the event by completing challenge components!

- Quarter 3 conferences and the February K-3 family engagement night will both be held next Thursday, February 12th, which is a 12:30pm dismissal for students. Conference sign-ups will go home this Thursday with interim report cards. Please complete and return these ASAP, no later than the following Monday. The K-3 family engagement event will be open from 2:00 - 5:30pm, with books, food, and parent information. Please stop into the cafeteria before or after your conference!

Finally, I encourage you to help your child access our intervention programs Lexia and i-Ready at home by using the Clever sign-in from our school website. The goal is for students to reach grade-level material in both reading and math, and most students are meeting their usage goals regularly. Please ensure that your child is either reading independently or with you each and every night to practice and improve their skills.

Thank you for your continued involvement and support,

Mr. Keegan Walters

Principal, LES
