Good evening LES families,
The end of our first nine weeks of school is fast approaching with the official end of quarter 1 on October 10th. To help prepare students for their Spring assessments, teachers are regularly assigning homework that aligns to taught or reviewed material that supports student learning. I ask for your support in helping your child establish healthy homework routines that include having a designated area(s) free of distractions. For students in grades 3-7, SOL study guides that can support you are on our website here: https://www.lcs.k12.va.us/o/les/page/study-guides behind the password "lcps2025". These will come in handy to prepare for upcoming Q1 benchmark testing. Teachers will make you aware of when those benchmarks are scheduled for your child's grade.
If you are having difficulty motivating your child, improving their behavior, or navigating the challenges of parenthood, I encourage you to try the free resource ParentGuidance.org. This comes at no cost to all LCPS families and has one-on-one coaching for guardians, live virtual sessions on a variety of topics, and opportunities to ask licensed therapists live questions. You can learn more about this on our website by clicking here.
Looking ahead at LES, we will host a spirit week beginning Monday, October 6th, to celebrate homecoming. Our spirit week aligns with the ECEC for the convenience of families that have children at both schools. A flyer to this is attached to this email. The week will conclude with a Hometown Heroes career event for all students. Keep up the consistency of positive attendance - our school is off to a great start!
