J-YF Visit to LES

On Thursday, January 25th, Mrs. Julie Fox from the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation visited the first grade classrooms at LES.  The students got to take a trip back to the past to talk about what life was like for the early settlers at Jamestown, the Powhatan Indians, and colonial life.  They passed around artifacts from the 1600's and 1700's, looked at maps and photographs, and talked about how children lived in those times.  Students got to dress up like native Americans, early settlers, and even characters from the colonial era like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.  A fun time was had by all!
