LCPS has a strong interscholastic sports program that provides opportunities for students to participate in a wide array of individual and team sports. Lancaster Middle School students can participate in eight sports, including golf, soccer, basketball, baseball or softball, track and field and cheerleading. Lancaster High School offers opportunities for participation in twelve varsity and seven junior varsity sports. LHS teams compete in the Northern Neck District (Group 1A) of the Virginia High School League.

The District’s philosophy of athletic competition emphasizes the importance of academic standing and student behavior as prerequisites for participation in sports. The District is committed to providing equal opportunity for all Lancaster students. Coaches and administrators are committed to promoting good citizenship, sportsmanship and accountability. Coaches and athletic department staff work closely with school administrators to assure that students are in good standing and making academic progress in order to participate in sports. The athletic department conducts seasonal meetings with parents to review athletic and academic guidelines for participation.

Students must obtain parental consent to participate in interscholastic athletics and undergo a physical examination by a qualified medical professional. Click here to download forms which must be completed by a parent and a healthcare professional.
