LCPS Families,

I want to take a moment to provide you some much needed updates about the direction of our schools during this challenging time. All updates will continue to be posted on our websites, Facebook pages, and with our partners in media.

As of now, Lancaster County Public Schools will continue to provide learning opportunities through packets and online resources. These will be provided as a continuity of learning. Officially, the school year has come to an end. We are working diligently with our teachers and staff to boost our online resources and availability of technology to our staff and students. Please utilize the resources on our website and the packets to enrich and reinforce skills previously taught.

For high school students, the Virginia Department of Education has provided waivers to credit earning courses for underclassman students and seniors for graduation. We continue to use VDOE guidance to create our plan for moving forward as far as grades, making up missed content in the fall (or earlier if the situation allows), and providing equitable opportunities for all students. Seniors will be receiving more detailed information from Mrs. Booth.

We will honor spring break for a majority of our staff during the week of April 6th through April 10th; however, over the next few weeks, you will be hearing from your school administrators about additional online resources and tools for providing a continuity of learning. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to email your school administration. You can find their email on the school website.

Thank you for your patience during this chaotic and unprecedented time. Our top priority continues to remain ensuring the safety and health of our students, staff, and community. We realize this event will create gaps in the learning of each child; however, we are confident that our students and staff will rise to the challenge once we can return to a more formal setting and in a manner that is safe for all. Please stay healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

Dan Russell

Superintendent
