Lancaster County covers approximately 149 square miles. It is at the southeast tip of Virginia's Northern Neck, a peninsula bordered by the Rappahannock River (to the south) and the Chesapeake Bay (to the east). The population is between 10 and 11 thousand. Lancaster is the county seat, and Kilmarnock the largest town. Lancaster County Public Schools consists of three schools: Lancaster High School, Lancaster Middle School, and Lancaster Primary School.
